It happened on Friday, Sept. 20 at 9:45 p.m. in Uniondale.

The pedestrian, a 58-year-old man now identified as David Powell, of Uniondale, was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling southbound on Uniondale Avenue, Nassau County Police said. Powell was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
